Trajan's Market ~ Mercati di Traiano
About Trajan's Market
The Trajan Markets consisted of shops, apartments, a library, and likely administration offices for the Emperor, Trajan. Construction commenced in 100 AD, under the superviseon of Apollodorus of Damascus, who was close to Emperor Trajan. Over the years many additions were added to the original structure, including the Torre delle Milizie in 1200, and a convent that was later destroyed. Along with the Trajan Markets, the Museum of the Imperial Fora houses many artifacts from Ancient Rome.
