Roman Forum ~ Foro Romano
About the Roman Forum
The Roman Forum was created after the battle between Romulus (King of Rome and Controller of Palatine Hill) and his rival Titus Tatius (Occupier of Capitoline Hill). Both parties met on neutral ground, now the Roman Forum, and formed an alliance. Over time this area became a vital part of day to day life for the Romans, with many events held here, such as: triumphal processions, elections, public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches.
