The Powder Tower
About The Powder Tower
This striking medieval monument was built in the mid 15th century to create an aesthetically appealing entrance between Old Town and New Town. It was one of 13 city gates surrounding Old Town. During the 17th century the tower, also known as a gate, was used to store gunpowder which is how it got it’s name. Visitors can climb the winding staircase to the viewing deck and see beautiful stain glass windows, along with remarkable views of Prague.
